Bonding Time - Creating A Better Connection With Your Dog

Wondering how you can continue to strengthen your bond and connection with your dog?  Work.  Wait, what?  Yes, believe it or not, your dog wants to be challenged.  Just like sitting around on a couch watching TV all day with a friend or significant other may be fun for a couple of days, after a week (or less), your brain starts to feel like mush.  What’s more rewarding for you both is to find something you both enjoy doing together.  Life with your dog isn’t much different.

While you can’t go and take a beer tasting class or a new hit up a new art exhibit with your dog, there are lots of ways to keep challenging your dog and yourself.  You can go out and explore new places, like a dog friendly patio while the weather is still nice.  Working on place in a new environment with lots going on is a fantastic way to challenge your dog as well as show off a little.  I mean, who isn’t impressed with a dog that’s well behaved in public?  If your dog isn’t quite ready for a busy patio, find a new park for a walk, or a different neighborhood with new sights and smells all while working on polite leash manners.  You can even spice up your regular weekday walk and train in the park or in the parkway for a few minutes and add a little play time in there too.  Or go crazy and try something totally new, like a new class.  There are so many different ways to train with your dog, whether you’re choosing to compete or just do it for fun and bonding time.

If you’re looking for new ways to train and further build your bond and relationship with your dog, let us know.  You and your dog are welcome to stop by our Polishing Class this weekend for some new ideas too.  If you’ve been having any issues, and need some help getting things back on track, we are here for you!
